3D Animation Video for Belimo: 50 Years Carried by One Orange Line
Belimo needed its 50th year told in a way that shows devices most people never see, because they sit inside buildings. This 3D animation video runs one orange line from a 1975 archive photo, through an actuator that comes apart, "100,000,000 ACTUATORS" and a world map, to "50 YEARS" and "Together to the Top." in 70 seconds.

The problem: nobody sees the devices inside a building
Belimo makes field devices for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems. Its actuators, valves and sensors work inside those systems, out of sight of the people in the building. A 50-year video for a company like this easily turns into a slideshow of dates and factory photos.
The video had 70 seconds to cover 3 things: where Belimo started, what the devices are, and how far they reach. It had to do that with titles alone, for viewers who have never watched an actuator at work.
How the video moves from 1975 to 50 years, scene by scene
Short on-screen titles carry every claim, and one orange line links the scenes. Select a time to play that scene above.
| Time | On screen | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| The Belimo logo. Its 2 orange marks fold into one orange square framed by crosshairs. | Makes the logo mark the thread for the whole video. | |
| A glass tile drops onto a white grid and fills with an orange-tinted workshop photo beside "1975". | Dates the story with one real archive image. | |
| The orange line climbs a step under "SETTING STANDARDS", then runs past a title naming Belimo's experts. | Turns the line into a timeline of claims. | |
| An actuator comes apart over a brass valve under "GROUNDBREAKING INNOVATIONS", beside a second actuator and 2 room sensors reading 20. Then "DRIVING THE FUTURE". | Shows the product once, in close-up, inside and out. | |
| "SMALL DEVICES" beside a white building, "IN EVERY 3rd COMMERCIAL BUILDING" with heat, fan and air icons, then "BIG IMPACT" over a white city as a counter runs from 1975 to 2020 and "100,000,000 ACTUATORS". | Moves from one device to how many are out there. | |
| The camera flies between white towers. Orange windows open onto photos of people at work inside. | Shows who the hidden devices serve. | |
| Orange bars sweep the grid to "SHORTEST LEAD TIME", then a relief map of Europe with orange bars and "CLOSE TO OUR CUSTOMERS", pulling out to a world map and "GLOBAL CUSTOMIZING CENTERS". | Backs delivery and reach with a map, not a list. | |
| An orange road runs through a white city to a mountain peak, with a "50 YEARS" badge and "Together to the Top.". The orange square closes back into the Belimo logo. | Ends on the anniversary line and the brand. |
Storyboard: the frames that carry the Belimo 3D animation video
Key frames from the finished video, in order. Select a time to play that moment above.

The start date, shown with one real archive photo.
The product, once: an actuator split open over its valve.
Room sensors and a second actuator set up the future claim.
The turn from one device to the buildings it sits in.
Where the devices are, in one line of text.
"Big impact" gets a number and a year.
A delivery claim set on the brand's orange bar.
Reach starts in Europe, shown as bars on a map.
The map pulls out to every region.
The close: the line becomes a road to the top.
4 decisions behind the Belimo 3D animation video
Decision 1
Turn the logo mark into the thread
At 0:03 the 2 orange marks of the Belimo logo fold into a square that becomes the orange line. It runs through every scene and closes back into the logo at 1:09.
Copy it: Pick one shape from your logo and make every scene change pass through it.
Decision 2
Show the product once, in pieces
Only 0:20 to 0:25 is about the hardware: an actuator comes apart over its valve. Every other scene is about scale, people and reach.
Copy it: In a company video, give the product one close-up beat, then show what it adds up to.
Decision 3
Put a count on "big impact"
At 0:30 a counter runs from 1975 to 2020 while "100,000,000 ACTUATORS" builds over a white city.
Copy it: Swap your brand adjective for a running total and the years it took.
Decision 4
Keep the world white so orange means Belimo
Buildings, maps and the mountain are plain white. Orange is kept for the line, the devices, the windows at 0:34 and the map bars at 0:50.
Copy it: Render the world in one neutral tone and use your brand color only where your product is.
From Belimo device files to a 50-year timeline
- CAD conversion and cleanup. Product files for the actuators, valve and room sensors were converted into clean 3D models that hold up in an exploded close-up.
- One line, 50 years. The script was locked to a run of short titles, from "1975" to "50 YEARS", with the orange line linking each one.
- White world build. City blocks, relief maps and the mountain were modeled in one untextured white so the orange reads at any distance.
- Materials and light. Orange housings and brass valve bodies were textured and lit to stand out against the white world.
- Animation. The line, the exploded actuator, the counter, the map bars and the city fly-through were animated.
- Render, compositing and grade. Shots were rendered, then the titles, archive photos and light trails were composited and the color graded.
- Sound design. Sound was built to pace each scene change.
Scope of work:
Production took 3 to 4 weeks on a budget of $2,500 to $4,000. See the 3D video production service for how a project like this is scoped.
Questions about the Belimo 3D animation video
Why does the Belimo video open on an archive photo?
At 0:10 a glass tile fills with an orange-tinted workshop photo beside "1975", the year Belimo started. One real image dates the story before the 3D world takes over.
How does the video show Belimo's products?
From 0:20 to 0:25 an actuator comes apart over a brass valve under "GROUNDBREAKING INNOVATIONS", next to a second actuator and 2 room sensors. It is the only close-up of hardware in the video.
What does "100,000,000 ACTUATORS" mean in the video?
At 0:30 a year counter runs from 1975 to 2020 while the number builds over an aerial white city under "BIG IMPACT". The scene turns a vague claim into one figure tied to a date.
Why is the 3D world white with only orange accents?
Every building, map and the mountain is plain white, so the orange line, devices and data bars are the only color on screen. The viewer's eye goes straight to what is Belimo's.
How does the video show Belimo's global reach?
At 0:50 orange bars rise on a relief map of Europe under "CLOSE TO OUR CUSTOMERS". At 0:54 the map pulls out to the world with "GLOBAL CUSTOMIZING CENTERS".
What did the Belimo 3D animation video take to make?
Device files were converted and cleaned, then textured, lit, animated, rendered, composited and graded, with sound design last. Production took 3 to 4 weeks on a budget of $2,500 to $4,000.
