B2B SaaS Explainer Video for Zoho CRM Plus: One Customer, Every Team

Zoho needed buyers to see CRM Plus as one platform for sales, marketing and customer service, not a bundle of separate apps. Advids built a B2B SaaS explainer video that follows one customer from a campaign email to a sales call, a support ticket and a survey, on real Zoho screens, with the hand-off buttons such as "Push To CRM" and "Convert to Ticket" in close-up.

The problem: 8 apps in one sidebar have to read as 1 platform

Zoho describes CRM Plus as a platform that "unifies your sales, marketing and customer service teams". On screen, that platform is a sidebar of apps: CRM, SalesIQ, Desk, Projects, Campaigns, Social, Survey and SalesInbox, with Analytics on its own screen.

A buyer comparing customer experience tools sees that list and asks the obvious question: does a lead from a chat reach sales, and does a complaint on Twitter reach support, without someone copying it over? A feature tour app by app would leave that question open. The video had to show one customer's data moving between teams.

How the CRM Plus explainer follows one customer, scene by scene

Every app is shown on its real screen, with a person from the team that uses it standing beside it. Select a time to play that scene above.

TimeOn screenWhat it does
A woman with a smiley shopping bag walks past a line-drawn city (0:03), the words "LIFELONG" and "RELATIONSHIP" behind her (0:06), then email, chat, phone, web, Facebook and Twitter icons around her (0:13).Sets up the customer and the many channels she uses.
She meets a marketer on a stool with a laptop (0:15), a salesperson at a desk (0:16) and a support agent in a headset (0:18).Puts a face on each team the platform has to join.
The "Zoho CRM Plus" logo (0:19), app icons orbiting it (0:22), a customer icon ringed by touchpoints (0:26), then a handshake (0:30).Names the platform as the thing that links the teams.
Zoho Campaigns: the "Product update newsletter" builder, then "Cheers! Your Campaign has been approved." with "Send Now", "Schedule Campaign" and "Send in Batches".Starts the customer's path with marketing.
SalesIQ visitor map, a Zylker Bot chat ("I am planning to buy a car.", "$5,000") handed to a rep, "Push To CRM" (0:46), then the CRM record with "Best time to Contact" and "Create Call" (0:50) beside the salesperson.Moves the lead from chat to a sales call without retyping.
Zoho Projects: a feed of tasks marked "70% Complete" and "20% Complete", team comments, the project list, a task list, then "Client Users" grouped by client company.Shows the delivery work tracked in the same place.
A man types "@ZylkerTravels I was overcharged for my last trip. I need a refund." (1:11), Zoho Social shows "Convert to Ticket" (1:15), the ticket tops Zoho Desk (1:17), a Blueprint maps the "Ticketing Process" (1:20 to 1:25) and an agent answers ticket "#282 Need to replace an item that I ordered online" with "Reply Assistant" (1:32).Turns a public complaint into a tracked ticket and an answer.
The CRM contact page lists chats, emails, campaigns and a "Zoho Survey" (1:33 to 1:42), a survey asks "Do you prefer to purchase online?" (1:47), then the Analytics "Executive Dashboard" with revenue, pipeline and a "Leads Conversion Funnel" (1:53 to 2:00).Gives a manager every team's work on one record and one dashboard.
The customer high-fives the man from the Twitter scene (2:03), the team joins them (2:06), then a gray smiley draws itself (2:08 to 2:11).Closes on the customer outcome the video opened with.

4 decisions behind the Zoho CRM Plus B2B SaaS explainer video

Decision 1

Follow one customer through every team

The woman from 0:03 meets the marketer, the salesperson and the support agent by 0:18, and returns for a high five at 2:03. Each team member then stands beside the screen they use, from the salesperson at 0:47 to the manager at 1:53.

Copy it: Cast one customer and walk them past each team your product serves. Every buyer in the room finds their own department on the path.

Decision 2

Put the hand-off buttons in close-up

"Push To CRM" fills the frame at 0:46 and "Convert to Ticket" at 1:15. These are the moments data moves from one app to the next.

Copy it: For a suite, skip the word "integrated". Show the exact button that moves a record between apps.

Decision 3

Keep the same sidebar on every screen

From 0:31 to 1:42 every app sits in the same window, with the same left bar: CRM, SalesIQ, Desk, Projects, Campaigns, Social, Survey, SalesInbox.

Copy it: Capture every module in one shell and one sample company, so the viewer reads one product, not 8.

Decision 4

Open and close on the same symbol

The smiley on the shopping bag at 0:03 returns as the final frame at 2:09.

Copy it: Pick one image for your customer's outcome, plant it in the first seconds and end on it.

From Zoho app screens to a 2:11 customer path

  1. Customer path. The CRM Plus apps were ordered as one customer's path: campaign, chat, sales call, project, complaint, ticket, survey and dashboard.
  2. UI demonstrations. Real screens from Campaigns, SalesIQ, CRM, Projects, Social, Desk, Survey and Analytics were prepared with one set of sample companies, Zylker among them.
  3. 2D motion graphics. Gray line art was drawn for the city, the channel icons, the app icons around the logo, the touchpoint ring and the closing smiley.
  4. Data visualization. The survey pie and line charts and the Executive Dashboard charts were set to read at video size.
  5. Compositing and color grading. People and screens were placed side by side on one light gray background, and graded to match.
  6. Music and sound design. Music and sound were built to pace each move from one app to the next.

Scope of work:

  • 2D motion graphics
  • Character animation
  • UI and UX demonstrations
  • Data visualization
  • Sound design
  • Music composition
  • Voiceover editing
  • Color grading

Production took 3 to 4 weeks on a budget of $1,200 to $2,000. See the SaaS video production service for how a project like this is scoped.

Questions about the Zoho CRM Plus B2B SaaS explainer video

Which Zoho apps does the CRM Plus explainer video show?

In order: Campaigns (0:31), SalesIQ (0:36), CRM (0:47), Projects (0:53), Social (1:12), Desk (1:17), Survey (1:47) and Analytics (1:53). They share one sidebar, so they read as one platform.

How does the video show sales and marketing working from the same data?

A live chat with Zylker Bot is handed to a rep, who clicks "Push To CRM" at 0:46. At 0:50 the same visitor opens as a CRM record with "Best time to Contact" and "Create Call", beside the salesperson.

How does a social media complaint become a support ticket?

Each screen has the person who uses it beside it: the salesperson at the CRM record (0:47), the support agent at the ticket (1:26) and a manager on a beanbag at the Executive Dashboard (1:53). The viewer sees whose job each app does.

Why does the Zoho video open and close on a smiley?

What did the Zoho CRM Plus explainer take to make?
